I would use Tree testing to test my mobile application. This method would allow me to find out if and where my users are having trouble using the app and allow me to make adjustments to make it easier to use. Tree testing allows you to test specific tasks to see whether users are easily able to accomplish certain tasks. You are then given an overview of the success/ failure rates for each task which would give a good overall idea of whether my app is working well in general and just needs minor adjustments or if users are failing many tasks it may need a complete overhaul. The ‘Time Taken’ information provided gives information on how easy it was for users to find what they were looking for. So even if a person succeeded in their task, if it took them a long time, I would know that that specific task needs editing. Tree testing results also shows you the path users took to accomplish each task, which would give me a clear view of how users intuitively navigate the app and whether they are taking the paths expected when I designed the application. There is also results displaying whether the task was a success, indirect success, failure or indirect failure. This allows you to see if a user was on the right path and where they took a wrong turn or perhaps their first step was not what you had anticipated, but they were still able to find their destination in a different way. I would be able to use that information to readjust the layout and sitemap in order to make it more high functioning and intuitive to use.
